George Mason University
Since TFT first launched on campus in 2010, it has been our goal to reach out to students and faculty through an event held once every two months. At the beginning of each semester we conduct an information session, where we invite students to learn about our organization. In the past year, we have organized a number of educational events geared towards both students and faculty. On one occasion, we organized a Food Education Seminar, where we invited the university provost to speak to the audience about the obesity epidemic in the U.S. Another time, we organized a discussion panel, inviting a couple professors and individuals to discuss the topic of malnutrition observed from their own fields of study. TFT GMU is still a growing organization with ten core members. However, we are looking forward to expanding through on-campus events and by organizing events by partnering up with other student organizations!
Grace Kim
I am currently a junior at George Mason University (GMU) in Fairfax, Virginia where I study Global Affairs and Japanese Language. I have been introduced to Table For Two through a friend and have been an active member of TFT DC and TFT GMU since October 2010. Starting fall 2011, I have been serving as the president of TFT GMU, promoting and planning events on campus. In November of the same year, I was given the opportunity to travel to Tanzania, one of TFT's recipient countries. During this week-long visit, I, along with few other TFT members from around the world, visited several schools and to see the effects of the meals that TFT helps to provide.
